A growing plastics company is seeking an experienced Technical Service Engineer (TSE) to join their team on-site in Houston, Texas. This role is crucial for supporting sales growth within the polyolefins conversion industry, focusing primarily on flexible and rigid packaging markets in the US South and US South-East territories.
Responsibilities
The TSE acts as the primary technical resource, working closely with the sales team (Market Manager, VP Sales, RSMs). Core duties include:
- Customer Support: Responding to technical inquiries, leading customer trials, and managing product qualifications.
- Product Development: Coordinating product support and development work with the Research and Development (R&D) team.
- Analysis & Reporting: Performing follow-up analysis, preparing detailed technical reports, and making presentations to customers.
- Travel: This position requires 50% travel.
Qualifications Required
The ideal candidate must possess:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Materials, Polymer, or Packaging Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years of technical experience specifically in flexible packaging (at a film converter, or materials/equipment supplier).
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of customer conversion processes, particularly blown and cast film extrusion, industry standards, formulations, and performance properties of polyolefins (HDPE, LLDPE, etc.).
- Skills: Exceptional knowledge of the principles of selling technical products and excellent oral and written communication in English.
