Electrical Engineering Internship at Siemens

Cryostar, a global pioneer with over four decades of expertise in cryogenic equipment, is currently seeking a motivated talent for an Electrical Engineering Internship. Based in Hésingue, France, this role offers a unique opportunity to join our System & Control department. As an intern, you will dive deep into the world of Automation and industrial innovation, contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions for the global gas and energy markets.

Project Context and Objectives The core objective of this internship focuses on Industrial Control Systems applied to pumps, heat exchangers, and compressors used in LNG carriers. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of our programming manager to design a robust modular program. The goal is to centralize control logics into a single calculation unit with optimized I/O interfaces. By developing this flexible Modular Architecture, you will ensure that future function additions or removals do not disrupt the overall system reliability.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Tasks Your daily missions will revolve heavily around PLC Programming and technical analysis. You will be responsible for identifying relevant products, updating specifications for manufacturer consultations, and programming machine logic based on existing documentation. A significant part of your role will involve conducting unit simulations and integration tests on a unique PLC to validate the Siemens TIA Portal configurations. Additionally, you will produce technical notes outlining standard procedures for function management.

Synthesis and Continuous Improvement Beyond the initial programming, this Electrical Engineering Internship requires a strong analytical mindset. You will synthesize updates needed for current control logics and conduct a comparative analysis of technical solutions to recommend the best PLC hardware, prioritizing Siemens Automation technologies. Secondary tasks will include updating electrical schematics and simulating sensors for continuous equipment monitoring, ensuring our documentation remains precise and up to date.

Candidate Profile To succeed in this Automation role, we are looking for a student currently enrolled in a Master’s or Engineering degree in Electronics, Electrical Energy, or Automatic Control. You should possess a genuine curiosity for R&D office work and a solid foundation in Industrial Engineering. Proficiency in English (read, written, and spoken) is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with internal departments and external suppliers. Autonomy, rigor, and a proactive attitude are key.

Benefits and Company Culture Choosing this Electrical Engineering Internship means joining a company that values integrity and inclusion. We offer a competitive stipend based on your education level, access to the company restaurant for lunch, and coverage for transport costs. At Cryostar, specifically through our partnership with the Mulhouse Rehabilitation Center, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive workplace. Prepare to enhance your professional skills in a dynamic, international environment.
