Deluxe is actively seeking highly proficient freelance Post-Editing Translators to specialize in Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE). This role requires deep linguistic expertise to ensure the highest quality of content and to provide valuable feedback for continuous MT engine improvement.
The Core Role: Linguistic Refinement
Post-editing is a distinct discipline that involves comparing machine-generated translations against the source text (English) and making meticulous adjustments. The goal is to transform the output into a fully polished, idiomatic « full post-edit » that is accurate, fluent, and adheres strictly to specific style and terminology guidelines, particularly for the Canadian French market. The role combines the functions of a proofreader and a linguistic reviewer, focusing on correcting inaccuracies, improving clunky syntax, and ensuring cultural and terminological fidelity.
Key Requirements:
- Language Proficiency: Native-level fluency in the target language: Canadian French (IRL Level 5). Full professional proficiency in the source language: English (IRL Level 4).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience in translation and/or dedicated post-editing.
- Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge and experience using CAT tools is required. Must be tech-savvy, comfortable with macros, and positive towards utilizing machine translation technology.
- Aptitude: Exceptional command of grammar, punctuation, and spelling, combined with strong cultural sensitivity and an understanding of global dialects and accents.
- Contribution: Proven ability to provide structured, actionable feedback to enhance the quality of the machine translation engine.
A degree in linguistics or translation is a plus, as is prior knowledge of the cinema and film industry.
